Copying SPA TradeMaster Database To Another Computer

One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is 'How do I copy across my existing SPA TradeMaster database to another computer?' Below are the steps required to ensure a database is successfully copied to another computer.

Current Computer
  • Open SPA TradeMaster on the computer containing your current portfolio(s)
  • Click the 'Options' menu and then select 'Database Location'
  • This will open a new window displaying the location of your SPA TradeMaster database.
  • Before the database can be copied close SPA TradeMaster so the database is not in use.
  • The database file containing your portfolio(s) is called 'TradeMaster.mdb' or simply 'TradeMaster' (with an icon of a key) depending on how your system is configured. Copy this file to a USB drive.

New Computer
  • Insert the USB drive in the computer you want to transfer the portfolio(s) and then copy the SPA TradeMaster database file.
  • Open SPA TradeMaster and then click the 'Options' menu and select 'Database Location'
  • This will open a new window displaying the location of the SPA TradeMaster database.
  • Paste the SPA TradeMaster database into this folder overwriting the existing file. (Ensure SPA TradeMaster is closed first)

Dear Mark

I upgraded my Spa Trademaster just now, but after I have done that I am unable to open it and I got a message saying it cannot run without a database.  I did the upgrade on the same computer where it was installed, and was able to open it just minutes before I downloaded the upgrade executive and ran it, so obviously the database was there before the upgrade but now it is not there ?  I am also unable to find it in the area you said I would if I were installing it into a new computer so I am at a loss as to what I should do now ?  Could you please let me know how to overcome this or where can I find this database ?

Regards

Jing

Hi Mark

I am trying to install on a new computer and have copied my SPA database to the location as specified, but when I open SPA on the new computer, it does not seem to be able to locate my database. My database is not even available for viewing. What do I need to do to correct this?

Thanks
Nader
